Above The Beat And The Sub-Bass - Competition ResultThe closing date for another CD competition has come around, and you're probably wondering; was it one of those competitions where only one person entered, or one of those runaway successes with three or four entries? Well... there was just the one this time. And once again, the prize goes to serial contest winner Uncle Tony. Though it has to be said that he came damn close to the correct answer, so even if a few more of you had entered, you'd probably have lost anyway. You'll recall that to win a copy of the Above The Beat And The Sub-Bass CD, you had to work out the date and time that the cover photo of The Belated Birthday Girl was taken, bearing in mind that she was at an event that was reviewed on this site in 2004. Uncle Tony's somewhat queasy logic led him to believe that she was at the V Festival, which I admit I went to in 2000 but haven't attended since. He then proceeded to get the date of the festival wrong; it's usually in mid-August, but he plumped for a date and time of Sunday 29th August 2004 at 11:27:15. But here's the thing. The photo was actually taken at the Late & Live show at the Gilded Balloon, Edinburgh. (You can see the last word of the Late & Live logo in the background of the picture.) According to the log on my camera phone, the picture was taken at 4.01am on Saturday August 28th. So Uncle Tony was only a little over a day out, which is pretty cool when you think about it. Congratulations to Uncle Tony, who now has a third Pick Of The Year CD to add to his collection. And before you ask, the 'win three and you'll get one every year for life' offer didn't apply this year. Sorry. March 1st 2005 |
